How to Access the Mobile App

The Connections Mobile app is available on both computers and mobile devices. It’s designed to be exactly the same no matter which device you use to log in for ease-of-use. Each user’s messages follow them from device to device so that users have everything they need no matter which device they’re using. The log in process is the same no matter where you’re logging in. Logging in even starts the same across all devices.

Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the MessageNet server (you’ll want to bookmark this so that you don’t have to type it in every time). This will open the MessageNet splash screen. If the splash screen doesn’t load, make sure that your device is on the same network as the MessageNet server. This should be your organization’s wireless network. If you have to use the data plan on your mobile device, you’ll need to use the server’s remote IP address instead of its primary one and you may need to speak with you System Administrator to make sure that your device is white-listed for approved access on the remote IP.

Click on the MessageNet logo or one of the Enter buttons to open the log in window. For PCs especially, make sure that pop-ups are allowed for that address – if they’re not, the web browser will block the login window from opening.

On a Mobile Device

Enter your User ID/PIN and password and log in. You will be prompted to visit the app store to download the mobile app. Ignore this message and click the Finish Login button instead. This will open the MessageNet app. At this point, you should bookmark the app so that you don’t have to go through the web browser each time. On Android devices, to bookmark the app on the web browser, click on the bookmark icon. To save the app to your mobile device’s desktop, click on the Menu button and select Save to Desktop. On Apple devices, to bookmark the app, click the bookmark icon and choose where you want to save it on the web browser. To save it to your mobile device’s desktop, click on the action (share) button and select Add to Homescreen. You will need to log in again each time, but bookmarking or saving the app to your device’s desktop can significantly reduce the amount of time that it takes to open the app, which is especially important in an emergency.

On a Computer

Enter your User ID/PIN and password and click Log to Connections Mobile. This will open both the Administrative Interface and Connections Mobile. If you don’t need the Administrative Interface, close that window – it can be opened again from Connection Mobile’s edit mode. To open the mobile app when you already have the Administrative Interface open, click on the Other Screens tab and select Connections Mobile.
